Both the Fox Valley Division and the Midwest Region of the National Model Railroad Association have budgeted funds for what we call a "Make & Take" model building program. If you are involved with an organized group of children in the age range of about 7 through 16, who are located in McHenry, Cook, Lake, and or Kane counties in northeastern Illinois give this activity consideration.
We'll send a few experienced modelers, as well as the tools and a carton of easy-to-build model kits to your meeting. The program involves about an hour or so of hands-on creative learning activity. We'll provide a short introduction to model trains and then take your group through the steps of making their own models to take home. The division donates the models and brings tools to make the event a success. We can support one or two of these programs a year depending on the group size. Contact us if you are interested in taking advantage of this introduction to model railroading. Please note that model pictured is representative of the type of model but the actual models provided may vary depending on availability at the time.
