About the Fox Valley Division

Fox Valley Division is a registered 501(c)7 not-for-profit Illinois corporation and one of the ten Midwest Region divisions of the National Model Railroad Association. It has a membership of approximately 220 modelers of all ages, background and skill levels from McHenry and Lake counties plus portions Cook and Kane counties in northeastern Illinois, who share a common interest in model trains. All modeling scales are supported by the division.

Regular meetings are held from September through May, 1:30 pm thru 4:30 pm, generally on the third Sunday of the month and often at the Gary Morava Recreation Center, 110 W. Camp McDonald Road, Prospect Heights, IL 60070. Meeting activities include Fox Valley Division business, discussion and modeling technique clinics, popular vote model contests with cash prizes where members bring models in various categories and those attending vote for the ones they feel deserve recognition, refreshments & occasional excursions to other member layouts, exhibitions, shows and/or places of interest to the membership. Consult the "Semaphore" publication or this web site for the details on each meeting.

Other division activities include an annual train show   High Wheeler   for one weekend during the month of March. Generally 25-30 model train organizations bring portable model train layout displays to share with the general public. All scales are represented. Historical societies, manufacturers and vendors also participate and exhibit in the show. This is the division's annual fund raising activity and all proceeds go to supporting the division activities.

One or two divisions of the Midwest Region of the NMRA host the annual Midwest Region convention in the spring of each year. Consult the   Midwest Region   Web page for more information.
